Prepare for an extra-blessed summer, Almost Paradise fans, because season 2 is just around the horizon! After the conclusion of season one in the middle of 2020, it appeared that we had seen the last of Alex Walker (Christian Kane), Kai Mendoza (Samantha Richelle), and Ernesto Almarez (Arthur Acua), but a brand-new, ten-episode season will premiere this July.
Alex will question his position on the island in the second season, but with the aid of his dependable friends, he will discover a renewed sense of family in paradise!
“No American series has ever been filmed in the Philippines,” Kane told Tell-Tale TV. “I feel like we know what Korea, Japan, and China look like because we’ve seen films in which they’ve been featured. We’ve seen on television that individuals have visited the Philippines, but nobody actually travels there.
Kane added that Almost Paradise has a feature that distinguishes it from other crime programs.
“Not only are you getting a Dean Devlin-directed action drama thriller, but you’re also getting a vacation, man,” he said. “Currently, in this time that we are all experiencing, entertainment can do a great deal of good for us all.
“Entertainment has always been a sort of savior in times like these, because you get to escape what’s happening in the world, and not only do you get to do that with our show, but we also give you a vacation.”
What Happened in Season 1 of Almost Paradise?
In the first season, former DEA agent Alex Walker relocates to the Philippine island of Cebu. He is coping with the news that he has hypertension, so he plans to refurbish an ancient gift shop he owns on the island and enjoy some much-needed peace and quiet.
However, it is not long before he is back in the danger zone, coping with the shady criminal element on the island and assisting the police in apprehending local criminals.
“All he wants to do is relax, but he is incapable of doing so,” Kane told Tell-Tale. “When he attempts to read a book while sitting on the beach, his watch goes off because he can’t take it — it stresses him out.
Whether he is in the midst of a case or a fight for his life, he does not experience stress. The man simply cannot prevail. Every time he gets up, they pummel him again, and I’ve always enjoyed watching characters like this on television as a child.”
Why Did Almost Paradise Need to Relocate?
The first season of Almost Paradise was broadcast on the cable network WGN America, but it was not renewed for a second season. In June 2020, producer Dean Devlin announced that a streaming service was willing to take up the first season of the show in order to gauge its popularity before deciding whether to order a second season.
This turned out to be Amazon Freevee, formerly IMDb TV, and it’s evident that the first season of Almost Paradise was a success, as the second season was renewed in 2022.
Where and When You Can Watch Almost Paradise Season 2
On Friday, July 21, 2023, all ten episodes of Almost Paradise season 2 premiered on Amazon Freevee in the United Kingdom and the United States, where the first season is already available to access.
Freevee is accessible via Amazon on your computer and via the Freevee app on the majority of popular devices, such as smart TVs, Roku, Fire TV, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Signing up is free, and you can watch as much content as you like, but Almost Paradise’s new home at Freevee will require you to view advertisements, and it will no longer be available on other streaming platforms.
Will There Be an Almost Paradise Season 3?
It is currently unknown if Alex Walker will return for a third season of Almost Paradise, but if enough people watch season 2 on Amazon Freevee, it stands a good chance of being renewed, similar to one of the streaming service’s other popular original police shows, Bosch: Legacy.
