More mysteries?? The April 2021 premiere of Cruel Summer quickly established the show as a viewer favorite. The second season premiered after more than two years had passed and featured an all-new cast and plot. However, will season three actually happen?

Will There Be a “Cruel Summer Season 3?”
To yet, Freeform has made no announcement regarding a third season.
In June 2023, executive producer Michelle Purple told E! News, “A lot has to do with the time period if we’re going back into the early ’90s or later into the 2000s because we do like the show to speak to what was happening at the time.” To paraphrase, “It’s hard to say, but we’re hoping for a season 3, so if people show up for season 2, Freeform will have no choice.”
Which Actors Should Return for “Cruel Summer Season 3”?
There has been no confirmation of renewal, therefore it’s still unknown who will be included in future episodes. However, as an anthology, the show will soon introduce a brand new set of protagonists and antagonists.
In June 2023, when discussing season 2, executive producer Jessica Biel enthused TV Insider, “We love working with these amazing young actors.” We enjoy placing children in dangerous circumstances, the kind that only adults should face. And remembering the ’90s is a blast since it was so much fun!”
Michelle elaborated that because each season spans three time periods, the actors get “the opportunity to play three different roles” in the same show.
“It’s the same character, but really three different parts of that character,” she told TV Insider. “I would assume that there aren’t that many opportunities for actresses to really get their teeth into stuff like that.”
What Would Happen in “Cruel Summer Season 3”?
As with the first two seasons, the third would probably continue the plot of a great mystery that shakes up a sleepy village.
